Moon Gate Vessel

Photograph an original hand-built ceramic vase formed as a low wide oval ring with one large off-center opening and a small neck emerging from the upper left curve. The clay is pale volcanic gray with fine black speckles; the inside of the opening carries a thin celadon glaze while the exterior remains rough and matte. Place it on a dark oak plinth against warm white plaster. Soft raking daylight reveals pinched seams, finger marks and the thickness of the opening. One dry grass stem leans from the neck.
