A Vermilion Ring and Black Feather

A tall vermilion ceramic ring sculpture stands upright on a small flat foot on an uncoated ivory paper ground. One long iridescent black feather is threaded diagonally through the ring opening, its quill touching the floor outside the ring and its upper tip leaning securely against the inner rim. The ceramic glaze shows subtle pooling and tiny kiln pinholes; the feather shifts softly from black to bottle green. A broad cool light from the right casts an oval ring shadow to the left. Sensuous minimalist sculptural still life, real gravity and touch points, no text.
